Department of Otorhinolaryngology
Overview:
The Department of Otorhinolaryngology at HAMM Hospital offers comprehensive ENT services, including advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology for endoscopic, microscopic, and micro ear surgeries, the department provides routine outpatient care, 24/7 emergency services, and specialized surgeries. With a commitment to clinical excellence and continuous medical education, the department strives to expand its services with flexible fibreoptic endoscopy in the near future.
Infrastructure:
The OPDs are equipped with high-definition endoscopic camera systems and monitors, facilitating diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as nasal endoscopies, otoscopy, and laryngoscopy.
Our operation theaters are well-furnished with:
• Optofine microscope systems for micro ear surgeries.
• Karl Storz camera and monitor systems for endoscopic nasal and laryngeal surgeries.
• Rigid esophagoscopes and bronchoscopes (both adult and pediatric) for foreign body removal.
• Smith & Nephew’s Coblator unit for adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy procedures.
Services:
• Outpatient Department (OPD):
Routine OPD services are available from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Saturday (excluding holidays).
Emergency services are available 24/7.
Audiology tests and hearing aid trials are conducted every Sunday.
Surgeries Offered:
o Tonsillectomy (using both cold steel and coblation techniques)
o Adenoidectomy (by curettage, coblation, or endoscopic methods)
o Styloidectomy
o Laryngeal surgeries (endoscopic and microscopic)
o Surgeries for thyroid, parotid and submandibular glands, ranula, and congenital neck cysts/fistulas
o Nasal surgeries including endoscopic sinus surgery and endoscopic septoplasty
o Micro ear surgeries such as grommet insertion, tympanoplasty, cortical mastoidectomy, and modified radical mastoidectomy
The department regularly organizes academic activities and Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions to enhance awareness of clinical updates and recent advancements.
